Custom Tokens: Define and Price Any Token Your Tax Software Does Not Recognize

Create custom token definitions with manual pricing, price pegging, or CoinGecko lookup. Never see "unknown token" with a $0 value again.

If you use DeFi, you have tokens that no tax software recognizes. Maybe it is an LP receipt token from a small-cap protocol. Maybe it is a governance token that launched last week. Maybe it is a wrapped version of something that CoinGecko has not indexed yet.

In most tax tools, these show up as "unknown" with a $0 market value — which means your portfolio is wrong, your cost basis is wrong, and your tax report is wrong.

Today we are shipping Custom Tokens, so you can define any token and tell us how to price it.

Three Ways to Price a Custom Token

1. Manual Price

Set a fixed USD price. This is the simplest option for tokens with a known, stable value — like a stablecoin that is not in our database, or a token you received at a known price from an OTC deal.

2. Peg to Another Token

Tell us "this token has the same price as ETH" (or any other symbol we track). Perfect for wrapped tokens, liquid staking derivatives, or rebasing tokens that track a parent asset. We will use the pegged token's market price for all your tax calculations.

3. CoinGecko ID

If you know the CoinGecko identifier for your token, enter it directly. We will pull historical and current prices from CoinGecko's API. This is useful for tokens that exist in CoinGecko's database but under a different symbol than what appears in your transactions.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Settings → Data & Account → Custom Tokens
  2. Click Add Token
  3. Enter the symbol (as it appears in your transactions), a display name, and optionally the chain and contract address
  4. Choose your pricing method
  5. Save — your portfolio and tax calculations will update to reflect the new pricing

You can define up to 100 custom tokens per account. Edit or delete them any time.

We built this because accurate tax reporting requires accurate pricing — and if your tax tool shows "unknown token" with a $0 value, your report is wrong. Now you have the tools to fix that.
